Established in 2018, Yatay is probably the most environmentally friendly sneaker brand you’ve not yet heard of, unless of course you actively seek more ethically minded brands. While their message is naturally commendable, god knows our planet needs all the help it can get right now, its also testament to this fledging Italian brand that its environmentally friendly message is backed up with exceptional footwear, or more accurately sneakers. Manufactured in Italy by hand and developed to drastically reduce the impact on the eco system, the shoes are vegan and every pair is made from eco friendly materials.
Founded by Umberto De Marco, President of Coronet Spa - an Italian company pioneering the production of environmentally friendly materials, Yatay’s mission to reduce, recycle, give back and up cycle is practiced through the Trees for Shoes campaign. A great and worthwhile initiative, where for every pair sold. Yatay will plant a tree in a forest in Bora Kenya.
The irori collection is the second release from this ethical brand, maintaining the same sustainable principles as the original model sneaker, drawing on performance inspired design features. The irori range is offered up in a palette of soft spring friendly hues to bolder shades of khaki green as well as their first tri colour versions. Constructed from repurposed components including waste foam, recycled rubber as well as organic cotton and hemp laces these are your eco conscious sneakers with serious credibility.
