These Reusable AvantGuard Face Masks Don’t Just Look Good, They Are Kinder To Our Planet With Substantial Anti-Viral Protection.

If we were to predict back in 2019, the face mask would be the only accessory everybody would be owning and wearing in 2020, it may have induced a few sniggers and rolled eyeballs. Yet here we are, coming to the end of one of the most tumultuous years in living memory, gripped by a pandemic that has everyone wearing a face covering. Not led by influencers but by scientists. We’ve all trialed numerous design styles over the last nine months, but recent surveys show that there is a substantial difference between the level of protection that various face coverings offer. Step forward The Avant Guard, whose masks have been developed to meet the highest possible level of protection.

Its London based founder, Faiza Seth, had previously experienced SARS first hand back in 2004 while in Hong Kong, so was acutely aware of the importance of wearing a mask. Luckily for us Seth also has a solid background in design and apparel sourcing and so put this knowledge to good use, developing the masks with Aerosilver technology; a new next generation healthcare fabric that has permanent anti-viral and anti-bacterial functions that survive repeated washing.

Clever stuff. Whats more Aerosilver is part of the actual fibre so it’s not released into the skin and infinitely retains its antimicrobial properties. The brand has been further validated by Oeko-Tex, an internationally recognised textile testing and certification organisation, who have awarded the AvantGuard mask a Product I Certification, the most stringent certification, making the masks even safe for babies. Together with all these applaudable safety properties, these masks are actually very comfortable to wear, thanks to the smooth soft fabric which fits closely against the skin. A secure fit is made easier with its nifty adjustable fastening, so no more sticky out ears. Even better news for keeping our skin in top condition is the protective layer which helps move sweat away from the skin to the outer layer of fabric, reducing the likelihood of skin complaints.

Where the AvantGuard masks have gained ground on health & safety, they’ve also made up with good design. Offering a choice of wearable block colours or patterned camouflage options, each one comes in its own zip pocket that you can clip onto jackets or inside your bag. No more excuses for losing your mask again or pulling it from a sticky sweet wrapper or other pocket debris. Another huge advantage of these masks are their reusability, forgoing the need for constantly replacing the thin disposable ones, which threaten to be an even bigger environmental issue than single use plastic.

With the positive news of the first certified Covid-19 vaccine being rolled out this month, compulsory mask wearing may become a thing of the past, but that’s in the future. For now, daily face covering is a priority for us all and these really do meet the qualities you would want in a mask.
